Meet Dr. Sain

Dr. David Sain

Dr. Sain grew up in a small community (Hillsboro) just outside of Manchester, Tennessee. He graduated from Coffee County High School where he was quite an athlete. He turned down the opportunity to participate in college athletics to pursue his education. "I definitely neglected my education in high school. I was a jock all the way. I knew when I got to college I was going to have to concentrate on academics." The lack of attention to academics changed when Dr. Sain married his childhood sweetheart, Sonia.

According to Dr. Sain, "I can't think of anything more enjoyable than seeing kids grow up and realize their potential. This is true whether it is helping them realize the best possible smile and facial appearance or being a part of their spiritual and physical development. The practice of orthodontics allows me to participate in what I love doing! What a blessing!"

According to Dr. Sain, his most important achievements have come on the personal side of his life, not the professional. "I was blessed enough to marry a wonderful woman, who together we have been fortunate enough to have two great daughters who are now adults."

Sonia was born in Livingston, Tennessee and grew up most of her life in Manchester, Tennessee. She attended school in Manchester and met David (Dr. Sain) in eighth grade. They dated from eighth grade through high school. After marrying, they moved to Cookeville where they attended Tennessee Technology University. After living in Cookeville for four years, they moved to Memphis for Dr. Sain to attend Dental School. While in Memphis, she completed her degree in business with a major in real estate. She worked as a title searcher for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water until they moved to Murfreesboro.

Sonia is involved in many areas of the office. She is like a utility player in baseball. She works where she is needed. Since 1985, she has worked part-time with Dr. Sain.

Her true love is her family. She and David have been married since 1972 and it has been full of life experiences. She says, "David is a great guy and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather."

Between family and work, Sonia enjoys spending time with her mother (87, who gets around like she is 45 or younger), her five siblings, having talks with Ms. Betty, her Bible study group, working out at the MAC with her friend Misty, gardening, ministering with other women, teaching Asitia, volunteering and attending World Outreach Church, serving in the community, but most of all loving those grandchildren and watching them grow up.

"Murfreesboro has been great to our family and we are blessed to call it our home. Only God could have worked my life out the way it is today."

Children--Dr. Sain and Sonia have two wonderful daughters. Each is her own person and she loves that about them.

Holly Sain Pearson is their oldest daughter. She is a teacher at Rock Springs Elementary and has completed four degrees in education. But most importantly, she is an awesome wife and mom. She is married to Christian Pearson, a State Farm Payment Plan Supervisor. He is a true blessing not only as a son-in-law, but also as a husband and dad. They have two of the most wonderful children. James (Zac) Zachary (born in 1999) keeps everyone busy with his travel baseball and football. Their daughter, Madison (Madi) Lee (born in 2006) is a beautiful young lady, and full of life. She brings sunshine to the room when she arrives. She is a dancer and coach pitch ball player.

Dr. Jessica Sain Leech is their youngest daughter. She is a clinical pharmacist and wonderful wife and new mom. She is married to Dr. Jeff Leech, a newly established dentist in Murfreesboro. He is such a blessing as a son-in-law, as well as a husband and dad. They have two beautiful daughters. Mylan Elizabeth (born in 2009) is so cute and the image of her mama. She loves playing outside and with her cousin, Madi. She is so loving and caring with her new sister, Austin Marie (born in 2011). Austin loves sleeping and discovering the world around her.

Education

Dr. Sain went to Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. He graduated with a major in Chemistry with high honors. He taught chemistry to college students, as a laboratory assistant, before he graduated from college. After graduating from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences College of Dentistry in Memphis, he continued his education at the University of Tennessee. He completed his residency in Orthodontics in 1982. While completing his residency, he also obtained his Master of Science in Orthodontics by completing a thesis concerning upper airway obstruction and craniofacial growth. After completing his residency in orthodontics, Dr. Sain began his professional career.

Professional Achievements

Dr. Sain has received too many professional awards and honors to discuss, but some noteworthy professional accomplishments include teaching at Vanderbilt University Medical School, as an associate clinical professor. Dr. Sain not only taught clinical skills, but also taught craniofacial growth and development to orthodontic residents. Dr. Sain has published articles and letters to the editor in leading professional orthodontic journals on subjects including: temporomandibular joints and facial growth in children, impacted teeth, appliance design, and practice management. Dr. Sain has also served as a consultant to Middle Tennessee Medical Center's Sleep Center. He serves on the Board of the Dental Assistant program at the Tennessee Technology School in Murfreesboro Tennessee. He serves on the Tennessee Dental Association Concerned Dentist Committee, which focuses on the physical and emotional well being of medical professionals. This work is very satisfying but occupies many hours. He is a member of the Tennessee Dental Associaton, American Dental Association, Tennessee Orthodontic Association, and the American Association of Orthodontics.

Community Involvement

When he is not tending to his busy practice, Dr. Sain is involved with the community. Dr. Sain attends four bible studies a week, three that he hosts at the office. He is a member of World Outreach Church and serves on the Board of the Rutherford/Cannon Counties Drug Court. Dr. Sain supports the, Interfaith Dental Clinic, Special Kids, Pregnancy Support Center, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the athletic programs in several community schools.

Free Time

In what little free time Dr. Sain has, he enjoys hosting three men's Bible studies at his office, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife. Dr. Sain attends World Outreach Church, which has blessed his life in so many ways.
